School's First Events
Thanks to all the voters, campaign staff, volunteers, and supporters who helped pass the Seattle school levies. The results are in and it’s a “win” for schools!
Prop. 1, the Capital Levy, was approved by 73.5%
Prop. 2, the Operations Levy, was approved by 74.1%
The Capital Levy will pay for projects at every public school in Seattle and make our schools safer for our kids. Funds will be used to provide technology enhancements; roof repairs and seismic upgrades; updates to worn-out athletic fields; and replace outdated heating & cooling systems and old water lines.
The Operations Levy will help keep class sizes down by paying for teachers in every classroom in Seattle, in addition to special education teachers, teacher’s aides, librarians, and guidance counselors. Levy funds will also help schools buy the everyday materials students need for a basic education.
